over a parallel port. In the case of a PC, the obvious choice is the

Das verwechselt du jetzt ein wenig. Es ist doch das Parallel-Line-Interface-Protokoll und nicht das Parallel-Line-Internet-Protokoll

Das ist ein Protokoll, womit normalerweise zwei Maschinen miteinander kommunizieren...daher ist das abgeleitet.
